Miramar’s Sherman Circle gets $2.4M upgrade - South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne, the point person for the Sherman Circle improvements, recognized the dedicated, hard work that the staff has accomplished over five years. “This is more than just a wall that we have built on Pembroke Road and on Miramar Boulevard,” Colbourne said. “We have truly revitalized this area. Our staff works every day and they do a lot of great things. They’re constantly busy, and sometimes they don’t really take the time to see the impact of what they have been doing. Affordable Housing Trust Fund

In response to the lack of affordable housing, on November 16, 2020, Commissioner Colbourne sponsored an Ordinance creating an Affordable Housing Trust. On January 27, 2021, the Ordinance passed on second reading establishing an Affordable Trust Fund. Read more here.

No Furlough Resolution No.

On May 18, 2020, Vice Mayor Colbourne sponsored a resolution of the City Commission of the City of Miramar, Florida, opposing the implementation of employee furloughs; supporting the recommendations of the city manager’s memorandum to the city commission dated April 24, 2020; and providing for an effective date. Blasting Resolution; Temp. Reso. No. 7162

At the April 15, 2020, Miramar Commission Meeting, I sponsored a resolution urging Governor DeSantis to order the cessation of rock mine Blasting during this State of Emergency. This resolution was unanimously approved by the Miramar Commission. The intent of this resolution is to provide Miramar residents with relief from the blasting in Miami Dade County during this time when residents are at home and experiencing the effects of blasting more often than when they are at work.
