The City’s Lifeguard Apprenticeship Program offers Miramar High School Students training and practice hours to assist in obtaining their Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Once certified, students will be qualified in order to apply for seasonal employment at one of Miramar’s two swimming pools. Program is for teens 15 to 18 years of age. Uniform Policy: Lifeguard Apprentices will be issued a T-shirt as part of their enrollment. Participants must wear the provided T-shirt during class at all times.
How to Enroll: Registration must be done in person at Miramar Regional Park Aquatic Complex (16801 Miramar Parkway) or at the Historic Miramar Aquatic Complex (6920 SW 35 St). Spaces are limited.
Miramar Residents: Free
Program Physical Requirements: All applicants must pass a swimming proficiency test.
Swim at least 100 yards with a steady stroke without stopping in under two minutes.
Swim 30 feet underwater without stopping.
Tread water for three minutes.
