It all started in the mid-1970’s when two high school friends, Jim Birch and Lucio Proni, built home loudspeakers for fun. Initially, they sold to friends, attaching their initials to the business. In the late 1990s, they started competing in sound competitions, winning national championships and wowing car audio enthusiasts around the United States, with their own brand, JL Audio.
